So, if you read my last post... you know I went to Alberta to do some vision sharing and support raising. I hosted an evening at my parents' farm and also shared at church on Sunday morning. Here's a small glimpse at what I shared.
I do a lot of things out here in YWAM Vancouver land:
I serve with the 2010 Project which will be facilitating a large amount of people wanting to serve in our city during the 2010 winter Olympic games. The hope is that sustainable ministry will result after the games have come and gone.
I educate young people about the sex trade industry: prostitution and human trafficking, leading them in prayerwalks covering this issue.
I offer free prayer to people walking on Commercial Drive in something we call "Prayer Stations".
I am researching and praying about how I, as a follower of Jesus, should respond to people who experience same-sex attraction. I believe there has been a large amount of ill response from the church in this area.
Something that God has really been impressing on my heart is that He is all about redemption. I've seen it in my own life and I want so badly to see Him accomplish that in other people's lives. This past Easter, Pastor Julia encouraged the congregation to look for God's redemption in everyday life, not just at Easter. Yes, we were redeemed with Jesus' death, but we are being redeemed still in so many ways. And God is the only one who can do that; who can make things new again.
Revelation 21:4-5
"He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then he said, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
So how did my trip to Alberta go? God has provided in total abundance. I was not aware (I found out AFTER I had chosen which weekend I would go home) that the following Sunday after my time there the offering was scheduled to go to me. Through that weekend and since I've returned home I've received many people's words of promised prayer, an incredible amount of encouragement that I am in the right place doing what I should be doing, and more money than I could have dreamed I would be blessed with. In total, since that weekend, I've seen $7800 come in for me which is OUTSIDE of my regular monthly support. *jaw drop*
I really don't know what to say other than thank you to all who have been a part of supporting me in one way or another, and praise God from whom all blessings flow.
