It's almost summer here in Vancouver. Today is a beautiful day and it's getting me super excited for the summer. When I lived in Alberta I didn't care much for summer because it's more dry and dusty there and there's not quite as much to do. Also, I loved the Albertan winter with all the snow and ice and hockey-playing, so the arrival of spring and summer meant the death of winter. Never liked that much.
But here in Vancouver... summer means biking through the city down to Stanley Park. It means sitting in a lawn chair at the park with a bag of sunflower seeds and a book. It means heading out to the lakes and setting up a tent for a weekend with my friends. It means watching my friends play ultimate frisbee (and sometimes means me practicing with them). It means wearing shorts and a T-shirt and not having to keep an umbrella or rain jacket nearby. It means driving up to one of my favorite places, Lighthouse Park, and having a picnic and learning more about rockclimbing (see the picture above).
*sigh*
I just love this city more and more and enjoying it in the summer is the best way to enjoy it.
All this talk might sound like a Vancouver tourism ad or something but I'm just flipping excited for the nice weather! You should all come visit this summer... and see what I'm talking about...
