After my trip to the Czech Republic, I spent a few short days in Alberta with my family. Normally when I go back to Alberta, I enjoy being reunited with our crazy cats, Diesel & Dexter, but sadly not this time. Over the summer, Diesel (the black one) had gone missing and shortly after Dexter (the gray and black one) also was nowhere to be found. My parents think they were killed by an owl as we've seen one hanging around the area of our farm recently.
These cats were probably 2 of my all-time favorite pets. They were honestly the most entertaining pets my family's ever had... just ask anyone who visited our home over the last 2 years. Hilarious. The picture above is the 2 of them trying to share their basket as they slept. They would usually just pile in together but they eventually got too big for it and would spill over like this.
They were actually born inside a wall of one of our calf barns in the summer of 2005. Their mother (one of our farm cats) had given birth to her litter in the wall and I had found them after hearing faint meowing sounds for a few days. I couldn't believe my eyes when I first saw them in that wall. We rescued them from inside the wall and eventually we picked these 2 brothers from the litter to live in the house with us as our former housecat (Sniffs) had also gone missing just before that. They were great little companions for my mom over the last 2 years as all of us kids have moved out. They are definitely missed, and I haven't been feeling too kindly towards owls lately either... I loved those cats.
The video below is from March of 2006. Laura was visiting after our DTS and was having a good time messing with the cats' minds a little... For other posts on my beloved cats click here.

I will somewhat miss being freaked out by those cats as they launch through the air, dig their sharp little claws into your legs when you are innocently sitting at the kitchen island, and going through an entire box of tissue in a weekend because I can't stop sneezing. I'm not really a cat person, but I will miss Dexter's silly crooked tail...
Wow - that is the nicest thing I've ever written about cats :) I luv Max.
